Mr. Watrous started his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney for the State of Florida. This afforded Mr. Watrous an excellent opportunity to gain trial and courtroom experience. As a State Prosecutor Mr. Watrous tried well over 25 jury trials and in excess of hundreds of nonjury trials. Mr. Watrous was an Assistant State Attorney for close to three years.
Subsequent to working for the State Attorney’s Office Mr. Watrous went into civil litigation. Mr. Watrous went to go work for the established and prestigious law firm of Dye, Scott, and Dedrick in Bradenton, Florida. Mr. Watrous was the chief litigation attorney for this firm and gained valuable experience doing commercial, banking, land use and construction litigation. Mr. Watrous left Dye, Scott and Dedrick to form his own firm.
Mr. Watrous is the founding member of the firm Robert P. Watrous, Chartered. The firm was formed in 1988. Mr. Watrous’ firm has an emphasis in construction, business, real estate, municipal and banking litigation. This firm has had a long and proud history of providing top level legal representation and trial work at a reasonable price for businesses and individuals.

About Robert Watrous
Mr. Watrous spent much of his early life in the Midwest and obtained undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Economics from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1979. Mr. Watrous then earned a Master’s degree in from St, Louis University in Public Administration and Political Theory in 1981. He moved to Florida after obtaining his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in 1984 from the University of Tulsa.
Robert P. Watrous, Chartered is primarily a litigation and trial practice firm. Mr. Watrous works closely with his clients in order to provide the best representation possible on what is transpiring in each and every case.
Mr. Watrous has been a full time resident of Sarasota since 1984 and has been active in community activities, a board member of his homeowner’s association and he has coached youth sports for many years and has been a long time supporter of the Suncoast Youth Basketball League.
